Pastor-Elect Matthew Jenkins

Pastor-Elect Matthew Jenkins holds ministry close to his heart. He was reared in Beulah Missionary Baptist Church where Reverend Jerry Black serves as pastor. With the call of God on his life, he served as the Director of Ministries at Voices of Faith in Stone Mountain. He oversaw 40+ ministries as the youth/families pastor at the church’s second location in Conyers. He is also highly regarded in the community where he served as campus director for Rockdale and Salem High School in Rockdale County for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes organization. In a short five year stint, Pastor-Elect Jenkins added relevant ministries to Ministries at Voices of Faith, raised the profile of the youth ministry, provided job training and employment opportunities to those in the community, and helped to organize community outreach/mission opportunities that focused on youth and those who had been devastated by natural disasters. He also was responsible for getting more youth and young adults involved in the main worship service.

Above all else, Pastor Jenkins loves to preach the word of God, preaching as far as the country of Greece.  He prays for and preaches with God’s anointing; to the end lives will be changed, backsliders reclaimed, and the lost will be saved.

He was elected as the pastor of Greater Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church on March 21, 2020 and started his journey on April 1, 2020. It was during this same time, the world was in the midst of the novel coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) and citizens of many states, including Georgia, were being ordered to shelter-in-place by state and local governments. Social (physical) distancing – maintaining a distance of at least 6 feet – was/is strictly enforced to reduce the spread of the virus. To care for the physical and spiritual health of its members and the community and ensure the Good News would continue to be shared, Pastor Jenkins and the church swiftly shifted Worship service and evening Bible Study to its new CyberSanctuary Livestream on the church website and Facebook.

At a time when people needed to hear messages of hope, God gave Pastor Jenkins a Word from Matthew 14:23. It is no surprise that his first sermon would be on Palm Sunday, April 5, 2020, and live streamed for the world to hear. This was the beginning of a sermon series entitled “Social Distancing as a Spiritual Discipline.” His installation service will be announced at a later date.

Pastor Jenkins is a native of Atlanta, Georgia. As an Oprah Winfrey scholar, he matriculated through Morehouse College with a degree in Business Administration in 2010. He also holds a Master of Divinity degree from Candler School of Theology at Emory University with a concentration in race and religion. He is married to Whitney Tucker-Jenkins and they have a beautiful daughter named Autumn. His parents are Matthew Jenkins Jr. and Jeannette Kendrick. Pastor Jenkins is the youngest of two brothers and 5 sisters.
